Waco

Waco double earns its Heart of Texas nickname for being centrally located in North Central Texas and for the warmth and friendliness of its people. Situated in the corridor between Dallas and Austin, Waco's the place for sport, shopping and restaurants galore.

Hike in Cameron Park, shop downtown at Magnolia Market and stroll through the cultural and historic district that extends from Austin Avenue through Elm Avenue. Walk across the Brazos River on the historic Suspension Bridge, built in 1870, where the clopping hooves of cattle followed the Chisholm and Shawnee Trails up north. Kids can cool off at the Waco Water Park. And there are many cultural attractions like galleries, museums and theaters to check out during your time off the bike.

Downtown Waco serves up all the excitement during race week, with restaurants, bars, breweries, stores, and all the GFNY activities from the Waco Convention Center, like the pre-race expo, pre-race group rides, the race start and finish. You're in for some great cycling and a fun stay in the heartland of Texas!

Course

Race on open, tranquil and scenic Central Texas county roads at GFNY Waco. The beautiful nature will amaze and inspire you as you ride through the main Blackland Prairie ecoregion, rolling hills and the Edwards Plateau savanna. The race course passes farmland, cattle ranches and dairies.

Race week activities are headquartered from the Hilton Waco Three Rivers Ballroom.

The race starts and finishes on North University Parks Drive near the Hilton Waco. After traveling on the closed-to-cars University Parks Drive and crossing the Brazos River via the Herring Ave Bridge, you leave the City of Waco and enter McLennan County and its vast nature.

The effort will go up a notch as you tackle a 2-mile-long hill just before entering the 35-mile loop. The loop has some flat sections for fast peloton riding, and also gently rolling hills that will break up the pelotons.

The medium course riders will do the loop once, while the competitive, long course riders will do the loop twice.

You track back the outbound roads to return to Waco and the festive finish line on North University Parks Drive. Join us at the post-race celebrations at the Waco Convention Center for the post-race meal, music and awards ceremony.

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.
